The disciples were astonished at hearing the hard statement that Jesus told them, that riches may keep you from entering the kingdom of God. This is seen in the passage of the rich young man that can be found in the Gospel of Matthew 19:24-26.
“Who then can be saved?” – Matthew 19:25
We also see in the parable of the sower explained by Jesus… It says
14 The farmer sows the word.15 Some people are like seed along the path, where the word is sown. As soon as they hear it, Satan comes and takes away the word that was sown in them. 16 Others, like seed sown on rocky places, hear the word and at once receive it with joy. 17 But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. 18 Still others, like seed sown among thorns, hear the word; 19 but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful. 20 Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop—some thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times what was sown.” – Mark 4:14-20
It is impossible not to worry. It is impossible not to desire for other things. No matter who you are and what you have, it is impossible. It is human nature.
So, “who then shall be saved?”… Who will enter the kingdom of God? Who can achieve this?
Jesus then answered them in Matthew 19:26 and said that what is impossible with man is possible with God.
What is the kingdom of God? This is God in you. We see the completion of God’s plan for mankind through the kingdom of God. That is each and every single person who God becomes fully manifest in.
It is apparent that we are disqualified from completely incubating and seeing the manifestation of the word of God in our lives. The only way to do this is through surrender. The only way to be good soil is to surrender. That is, to be like God. With the mind and heart of Christ. A mere man (without God) cannot meet these heavy requirements for entering the kingdom of God. We cannot achieve the full manifest power of God through us by being our human selves. God in us can.
The power of God to heal, set free, deliver and raise the dead can be present in all of us. Dominion in each of our given kingdoms. We have the right to access it. But not all of us reach it. We fall short by wanting to do it all on our own. We can only achieve the impossible by surrendering to God.
Surrendering is not easy, but having come this far… It will surely be worth it.
